Event Summary

"Meet and Greet" Members of KANSAS the band!

JOIN US for a gourmet KANSAS inside picnic kicking off fundraising for REDBUD GARDENS in the NOTO Arts District in Topeka, Kansas. Help us honor the district's major benefactor, the Redbud Foundation, and KANSAS the band whose founding roots include a recording studio located in this area.

More Details

This gourmet picnic will provide a "meet and greet" with current and former members of the band KANSAS who are on a year-long 40th anniversary Leftoverture Tour. The band will perform a public concert that evening in the Topeka Performing Arts Center.

Items autographed by KANSAS band members will be auctioned during the event.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit a planned family-friendly sculpture garden at the entrance to the NOTO Arts District on North Kansas Avenue which will honor NOTO’s major benefactors The Redbud Foundation.

The REDBUD GARDENS will also include recognition of the band KANSAS whose founding roots include a recording studio in a rented house in this area. The young band members mailed demo tapes in the Post Office (which is now the NOTO Arts Center), which located across the street west from the planned REDBUD GARDENS.

Amenities are still being planned, and input is welcomed. Envisioned amenities in the REDBUD GARDENS include:

  • Redbud trees planted throughout the gardens
  • Sculpture honoring the Redbud Foundation
  • Sculptures recognizing the band members
  • Sculptures of the band’s Gold Record album covers
  • Creative open space and play environment with inter-generational appeal
  • Performance stage
  • Interactive musical instruments
  • Interactive fountain
  • Artistic presentation of donor recognition
